The Final Assessment
I apologize for not delving deeper into what’s been going on with me and my quest for an anxiety-free (or moderately anxiety-free) life. I admit that some of my posts have been vague, and my methods unclear. The main reason for this is that my methods have indeed been unclear (even to me!)
The process of recovery from an anxiety condition is a largely individual process. You can have allies, companions, and aids, but no one can really share your experience. No one can point you to exactly what you need to do to get better. It really depends on your own personal needs. That’s why there are so many different methods psychologists, psychiatrists, and self-help gurus promote: each one works for certain people and perhaps not for others. Read More…

Road to Victory
It’s extremely important, when striving for a new goal, to take time to reflect on your progress. If you don’t, you’ll never be able to see just how far you’ve come.
Lately I’ve been working on speaking up, initiating and maintaining conversations. I’ve also been trying to send more invitations. Each of these has become a lot easier, almost effortless!
However, I’m still finding it difficult to do all of these things with complete strangers. I still want to work on initiating conversations strangers and inviting acquaintances to do things (in other words, making new friends). Ultimately, I am on the right track. Read More…

Push Ups: Mission Complete!!
After performing my final push-up workout in February, I resolved to continue with the program until I was able to do 100 consecutive push-ups, even though I had gone over my time limit.
And it brings me great joy to say that, after seven hard weeks, my goal has been achieved!!
To be honest, I did cheat a little bit. I was supposed to perform 100 push-ups consecutively, without breaks. I ended up having to take a few breaks in order to get to 100; though, each one was only about 5 seconds long. Since the breaks were only seconds long, and since I would have never been able to even get close to 100 prior to the work-out, I’m going to go ahead and call that success. Read More…

Push Ups: Final Test
The Result:
After a grueling month of working out, I managed to go from performing only 28 push ups to perfoming 64!!
True, it wasn’t quite the 100 I was looking for, but adding an extra 36 push ups (more than doubling my ability) to my arm strength is extremely impressive (to me, at least).
It Doesn’t End Here!
You think I’ve come this far just to end at 64 push ups? Absolutely not! I’m going to continue with the program until I make it all the way! It may take another 2, 3, even 6 weeks, but I don’t care. I’m determined to get the 100!
For now, though, I’ll take it easy…

Pre-New Years Reflection
With 2010 only days away, I’ve started to think about what my new years resolution is going to be. I thought it was a bit strange to chose a goal for the new year when my blog is entirely about the goals I plan to achieve. Nevertheless, I figured I’d give it some thought. I’ve already decided on some new goals that I hope to tackle sometime in the near future.
Although, thinking about the new year (and new decade) made me think about not only my future, but my past as well. I figured, new years shouldn’t just be about how great the coming year will be, but how great the previous year was. This made me think even further about my life as a whole. I’ve grown and matured more in the past few years than I could have ever expected, and it makes me really happy and excited. Read More…

Missed Opportunities
It seems that, whenever I resolve to “make my move” is precisely when the opportunity fails to present itself. I consider myself to be a very lucky person. Because of this, it almost seems as if I have given up any luck I might have in relationships in order to be lucky in every other area of my life. Romance is the one part of my life where I cannot be sure that everything will simply “work itself out.” This is especially frustrating when, on the day I plan to ask my crush to have dinner with me, she is running late and doesn’t have a chance to talk.
