Push Ups: Mission Complete!!

After performing my final push-up workout in February, I resolved to continue with the program until I was able to do 100 consecutive push-ups, even though I had gone over my time limit.

And it brings me great joy to say that, after seven hard weeks, my goal has been achieved!!

To be honest, I did cheat a little bit. I was supposed to perform 100 push-ups consecutively, without breaks. I ended up having to take a few breaks in order to get to 100; though, each one was only about 5 seconds long. Since the breaks were only seconds long, and since I would have never been able to even get close to 100 prior to the work-out, I’m going to go ahead and call that success. Read More…

Push Ups: Final Test

The Result:

After a grueling month of working out, I managed to go from performing only 28 push ups to perfoming 64!!

True, it wasn’t quite the 100 I was looking for, but adding an extra 36 push ups (more than doubling my ability) to my arm strength is extremely impressive (to me, at least).

It Doesn’t End Here!

You think I’ve come this far just to end at 64 push ups? Absolutely not! I’m going to continue with the program until I make it all the way! It may take another 2, 3, even 6 weeks, but I don’t care. I’m determined to get the 100!

For now, though, I’ll take it easy…

Push Ups: Week 3

Just realized that I haven’t written a push-ups post since the end of my first week. If you have been following my push ups logger then you’ll have seen how I’ve been doing.

And how have I been doing? Quite well actually.

This week has been different from the previous weeks because there are more push-up sets in each workout. I’ve noticed my endurance improving, which is great. I’ve also noticed more and more definition in my abs, which is also great! Read More…

Push Ups: Week 1, Day 3

I just finished with my first week of push-ups and, in a way, I’ve already succeeded. My goal is to complete 100 push-ups in a row and yesterday I did a total of 122!

Granted, I had two minute breaks in between the sets that I did, but I was still pretty impressed with myself. Perhaps it was just because I had more time to rest in between the sets, but overall I didn’t feel as burned out. Best of all, in the final set, when I was supposed to complete as many push-ups as I could, I managed 30. This is proof to me that I am improving since I was only able to do 28 in my initial exhaustion test. Read More…

Push Ups: Week 1, Day 1

So I wanted to post this right after my workout; although, I don’t know that I’ll be able to do that in the future. After finishing the first day of the workout, I can barely lift my arms over my head, save type this update.

Right now I actually feel pretty good. My biceps are burning hot, but I can feel the muscles building. It’s a good feeling, but a feeling that you can’t get unless you’ve just completed an intense workout. And in all honesty, “intense” barely scratches the surface of what that workout was. Read More…

New Goal: Drop and Give Me 100?!

Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about fitness and strength. For me personally, I’m in good physical shape and eat relatively healthfully; however, I’m not very consistent with any of these areas. And since I am thinking about becoming a physical educator and trainer, it makes sense for me to start a stable program.

That being said, one program that interested me was the “One Hundred Push-Ups” program. You may have heard of it, since there are a number of spin-offs and variations. I decided, what the heck, why not give it a shot? Supposedly, anyone can do it, and if I’m as in shape as I think I am, it should be a piece of cake. Or several pieces of cake. Or several pieces of low-calorie cake. Read More…
