New Goal: Drop and Give Me 100?!
Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about fitness and strength. For me personally, I’m in good physical shape and eat relatively healthfully; however, I’m not very consistent with any of these areas. And since I am thinking about becoming a physical educator and trainer, it makes sense for me to start a stable program.
That being said, one program that interested me was the “One Hundred Push-Ups” program. You may have heard of it, since there are a number of spin-offs and variations. I decided, what the heck, why not give it a shot? Supposedly, anyone can do it, and if I’m as in shape as I think I am, it should be a piece of cake. Or several pieces of cake. Or several pieces of low-calorie cake.
The plan that I decided to use is taken from hundredpushups.com. If you are interested in also trying this fitness program, I don’t think there is much variation between the actual programs. I chose this one because it seemed pretty legitimate and easy to follow.
The idea is that you should be able to perform at least 100 push-ups in only 6 weeks. They couldn’t have made it any easier for me: My new goal is now to do 100 push-ups consecutively by the end of 6 weeks.
The first step of the program, before beginning the actual 6 weeks, is to do an initial fitness test. In other words, see how many push ups you can do now. I went ahead and did just that to see just how much ground I have to cover. I thought for sure I could get to 30, but I didn’t want to sacrifice my form to do it, so I collapsed after 28.
According to the Initial Test Chart this means I am in “Rank 3″ (Shucks, if I had managed 30 push-ups I could have been in Rank 4). This is great because it means that I am able to skip weeks 1 and 2 and go straight to week 3! That means I should be able to complete 100 push-ups in a total of 4 weeks!
It’s important for me to again note that I have been training for a while now and, though I do not do push-ups on a regular basis, my arm and shoulder strength is much improved. For this reason, don’t be discouraged if you are not able to do the same amount of push-ups as me. The program is designed so that anyone can do it, so your work-out will be different from anyone else’s.
With all of the information I have now, I am going to declare February “Street Saint’s Fitness Month”! By the end of February (4 weeks) I shall complete 100 push-ups consecutively. This in addition to the two other goals I will be attempting to complete simultaneously.
I’m breaking a sweat just thinking about it! (Or that’s probably from the push-ups I was just doing). In any case, my arms are tired, so I’ll take a break from typing…

Good job on getting started with the challenge, let me know how it goes for you. I have started it twice but never being very good at push ups it has defeated me both times. I am thinking of starting again however. keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for the encouragement, Quinn.
I have also tried not this specifically, but similar work outs that I just wasn’t able to keep up with.
I’m determined to see this one all the way through though.
Wish me luck!
Good luck with it! I always get stuck at week 04!
Oh boy. I guess I have my work cut out for me then.
Thanks for the well wishes, though!
