Street Saint on May 5th, 2011

Just received the video from my staff spinning performance back in March.

Might I just say how much I despise watching myself perform.  I see the video and all I see is error, error, error, sloppy, sloppy, *vomit*.  However, I received a lot of compliments on my performance, so I figured there must be something redeemable in there.

I finally have my new staff! And I named it Lil’ Saint, after me. :)

I also promoted Chameleon back up to the status of performance staff; though, Lil’ Saint will be my main one now. Instead, I got myself a NEW practice staff, that doesn’t cause me as much pain when I mess up with it. Hooray!

Ordered a new staff and some other equipment for performances. I also decorated my old staff and gave it a name.

Lots of fun times! Read More…

I’ve been trying a bunch of new things lately. In class I’ve been working on such skills as the back hand spring and back tuck (I can do both, but they’re still scary to me), the aerial cartwheel, and a number of more advanced partner acro skills (including pitches and 3-ups).

Most excitingly, I’ve started to master certain skills. First off, my dive roll. I’m now able to clear 3.5 maybe 4 feet in a standing jump (without hurting myself)!

I’ve also been trying out some other acrobatic skills including the butterfly kick. I can’t see myself when I do it, so I don’t really know if it looks any good just yet. Read More…

I’m excited about all of the new projects I am working on. There are a lot of performances coming up, which is exciting. Unfortunately, it means there is also a lot of work preparation-wise.

First off, I am rehearsing for a showcase for this coming Saturday. It is with my performing arts troupe Gumbo Yaya. We primarily perform for school-age children; however, we are hosting a special performance this weekend and opening it up to our college community. The two shows we are working on are called “Bowling for Friends” and “Rabbit and Harpy,” both original plays performed only by our troupe. Read More…
